AARP and the Golden Age Club
AARP
A local AARP chapter is a community-based group affiliated with AARP (formerly the American Association of Retired Persons), a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering people aged 50 and older.
What a Local AARP Chapter Does
A local chapter serves as a neighborhood hub where members can:
Connect socially – Regular meetings, coffee gatherings, book clubs, game days, and holiday events.
Engage in community service – Volunteer projects such as food drives, tax assistance programs, voter education, and support for local seniors.
Attend educational programs – Guest speakers, workshops on retirement planning, Social Security, Medicare, fraud prevention, and caregiving.
Advocate locally – Organize around issues affecting older adults, such as healthcare access, housing, transportation, and consumer protection.
Access resources – Learn about AARP benefits, discounts, and national initiatives.
THE GARDNER GOLDEN AGE CLUB
The Gardner Golden Age Club is a community-based organization designed to bring together older adults—typically retirees or residents aged 55 and over—for social connection, enrichment, and mutual support.

Social gatherings – Monthly meetings, holiday celebrations, birthday recognitions, and themed events
Educational programs – Guest speakers, health and wellness workshops, financial planning sessions, and safety presentations
Group outings – Day trips, cultural events, restaurant visits, and local tours
