The 9th Massachusetts Building Code, 780 CMR 310.4, (Effective 10/20/2017) requires that the Building Department periodically inspects multifamily properties in the City on a five (5) year basis. However, while required by law, due to time constraints and staffing levels, our building department has been unable to get to these inspections due to other required inspections needing to be performed, since the early 2000s.
These inspections were further codified into the City Code in Table 110 of Section 390-3 and unanimously re-approved by the City Council on March 21, 2022 when Section 390-1 was amended.
