Transfer Station Announcements
The Gardner Transfer station is for Gardner residents only
The Gardner Transfer Station is not to be used for waste generated by commercial activities; it's for Gardner residents to dispose of their household items only.
Transfer Station Stickers and Bulk Item Fees/Volume Load Fees need to be paid at the Health Department or online. Transfer Station Attendants are not authorized to accept cash or checks at the Transfer Station - NO EXCEPTIONS.

Resident Transfer Station Sticker
Gardner Transfer Station permit stickers are available for Gardner residents for $20. The permit sticker is valid from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. The permit sticker will allow you to dispose of many recyclable items for free. Disposal of household trash and bulk items requires prepayment of disposal fees. Please see the links below for more details and disposal fees.
Transfer Station sticker can be purchased 2 ways:
- At City Hall: Bring your driver’s license and vehicle registration for which the permit will be issued to the Board of Health office in City Hall, room 29. Hours are Monday - Thursday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Friday 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Payment at the Board of Health must be cash or check only; we do not accept credit or debit cards.
- Online: When purchasing online, print out your receipt; the receipt is your temporary pass to the Transfer Station until you receive your sticker by mail. Order Online
In the event that your vehicle is sold or a windshield is replaced, the sticker must be REMOVED & RETURNED to the Board of Health for a free replacement sticker. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Sticker Placement: Transfer Station permit sticker must be placed on the vehicle at the time of issuance. The sticker must be placed in the lower driver’s side corner on the inside of windshield. Stickers not attached on the windshield may be subject to revocation.

*Non-resident property owners
Non-resident property owners (landlords) may purchase a 1-Day Pass for $10 for the Transfer Station to dispose of items from a property in the city of Gardner; disposal fees also apply.

Paint Disposal
Dried-out latex paint cans with lids off may be placed in your curbside toter or can be disposed of as part of a trash volume load at the Transfer Station (annual sticker required) Other paint products can be disposed of at Hazardous Household Waste Collections Days.
