City of Gardner Instructions for Using New Parking Meters


Presented by the City of Gardner Parking Department in cooperation with the Gardner Police Department, Office of Community Development and City Treasurer's Office.

Parking Meters are located on the following City streets:
  • Central Street
  • City Hall Avenue
  • Connors Street
  • Main Street
  • Parker Street
  • Pleasant Street
  • West Lynde Street
The are 2 types of parking meters:
  • A single space meter
  • A double space meter

Single Space Meter - Serves 1 Single Parking Space


  1. For a single-space meter, simply place 25 cents in the slot
  2. The meter will automatically show 30 minutes time
  3. Place additional coins in the slot to add time
  4. Once coins are deposited, the status buttons will show as green until the meter runs out of time
  5. A red status button means the vehicle is in violation

Single-Space Meter

Double Space Meter Serves 2 Parking Spaces


  1. For a double-space meter, first find the button for the space you are parked in.
  2. If your vehicle is parked to the left of the meter, press the left-arrow button
  3. If your vehicle is parked to the right of the meter, press the right-arrow button
  4. After pressing the appropriate button, insert 25 cents into the coin slot
  5. The meter will automatically show 30 minutes
  6. Place additional coins in the coin slot to add time
  7. Once coins are deposited, the status button on the side you chose will show as green until the meter runs out of time
  8. To check remaining time, simply press the arrow button again, and the minutes remaining on the meter will appear in the display window
  9. A red status button means the vehicle is in violation
Double-Space Meter

Out of Order


For both single and double-space meters, if the status indicator is yellow, the meter is out of order and cannot be used. You should not park at an "out of order" meter

Municipal Lots


Please remember, parking is available at no charge in the City's municipal lots located at:
  • Nichols Street, entrance off City Hall Avenue and Nichols Street
  • W. Lynde Street, behind businesses
  • Knowlton Street, behind City Hall
  • West Street, across from Gardner Ale House
